What If...
What if we didn’t care about make-up and hair?
How could we do it? How could we dare?
Strutting our true self totally bare.
Ignoring negative comments and judgmental stares.
In most animal species, adorned is the male,
With colors and grandeur to attract the female.
But humans have flip flopped the natural order,
Making decorating the norm for women and daughters.
Who says beauty is only worth seeing.
It’s time we define ourselves by something worth being.
Beyond the surface of appearance and shape,
Lies a force of power lying in wait.
It needs no approval. It needs no mate.
It knows no ugly. It knows no hate.
Be it Pamela, Whoopi or Jaime Lee,
Bare-faced in public and “Hollywood” free.
They know who they are and that is the key.
Lipstick and liner are not their captivity.
Make it your own choice, make-up or not.
The beauty within you is what makes you hot.
Not Facebook or Insta or filters on TikTok.
Kindness and Love are what make you rock.
Who says beauty is only worth seeing.
It’s time we define ourselves by something worth being.
Beyond the surface of appearance and shape,
Lies a force of power lying in wait.
It needs no approval. It needs no mate.
It knows no ugly. It knows no hate.
